From a case study on moving from a matrix to a product-based structure to a talk on how to thrive as an AI product manager, here’s a look at the most read Mind the Product articles and talks in April.

This article from Natalia Drazhnik, Product Owner at Zeal Capital Market, highlights CH Blue Digital Limited's successful transition from a matrix to a product-based structure. It was a strategic change which involved redefining roles and responsibilities around sets of aligned products rather than projects, in order to speed up innovation and increase productivity and accountability of employees.

A case study: How we transformed YCH Blue Digital Limited structure from matrix to product-based

This article, also by Natalia Drazhnik, explores the critical role of user feedback in driving innovation and business success. She says the true challenge lies in interpreting the information you gather rather than gathering it. Mismanaged feedback can overwhelm and derail priorities, while a systematic approach can drive continuous improvement, innovation, and user loyalty. She offers best practices for gathering, categorising, and leveraging user feedback.

She runs through formal and informal methods of gathering feedback, when to use different methods, and offers advice on how to organise feedback in order to analyse and prioritise it effectively. She also considers ways to collaborate with UX and UI teams effectively and how to roll out any changes effectively.

How to work with user feedback

In this Product Experience podcast episode, Dave Killeen, VP of Product at Pendo, shares his go-to AI tools that can help make life a little easier for product managers

Dave underlines that AI isn't replacing us, it's reframing how we work. We can expect smaller product teams doing more, faster, and the edge now lies in storytelling, judgement, and taste. Dave is a big fan of voice - by using tools like SuperWhisper and Claude, he says he’s reclaimed up to a full workday each week. We can expect rapid acceleration of AI, Dave says. With new players like China’s Manis AI, costs are dropping, capabilities are rising, and adoption pressure is increasing.

In this #mtpcon London talk PLG advisor Leah Tharin led an actionable session on the key principles of growth in product and what it will look like in the future.  She looks at the fundamentals of PLG including ways to build customer and company value over time. She also stresses that PLG distribution is more likely to succeed in commoditised spaces where customers have choices in how they interact with the product.

She also looks to the future, saying that product managers must become more specialised. Companies expect specialisation and predictability from product managers while also providing more support towards GTM and Sales, she says.
